The Green Revolution and transversal countermovements: recovering alternative agronomic imaginaries in Tunisia and India

چکیده
This article outlines the visions of Tunisian and Indian dissident political thinkers agronomists, 1950s–1980s, for decentralised food farming systems using just technologies. Amidst ascendent US imperialism, these marginalised proposals opposed Green Revolution model agrarian development, illustrating broader postcolonial politics defending sovereignty advancing to economic/technological sovereignty. Erasing voices enabled legitimisation as an ‘inevitable’ way ensure security. We argue that recovering this intellectual history is critical displace techno-centric narrative, inform support struggles ecologically attuned alternatives foreground agroecology.
